An Inconvenient Son

Today Al Gore II said of Al Gore III, that "We love him very much," Gore told NBC's "Today" show, adding, "We are going to leave it as a private matter."

A Private Matter? I'm sorry if you find it inconvenient that Jr was arrested driving down my freeway in excess of 100 MPH. That is not a private matter, it is a matter of public safety, compounded by the fact that Jr was under the influence of drugs and in possession of narcotics.

Will we see another California style Celebrity Catch and Release Show? Will another wealthy Prince of the Realm be treated better than the rest of us, because of who he is, or rather who his daddy is? Shades of Paris Hilton.

If it were me, or someone else without mega bucks, the prosecution would be screaming for prison time regarding the narcotics possession. I'm talking felony possession of
Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. They would insist on felony DUI charges due to the high rate of speed and the fact that Jr does this with unfortunate regularity. In this case I agree with my hypothetical prosecutor. Jr needs to be stopped before someone dies. The life we save may be his, or yours.
